Rooted in Community: Heather Glen Senior Living’s Commitment to the Lehigh Valley

January 21, 2026

At Heather Glen Senior Living, our mission extends far beyond the walls of our community. While we are proud to provide exceptional care, comfort, and connection for our residents, we believe that true senior living means being deeply invested in the well-being of the greater Lehigh Valley. Through hands-on volunteerism, financial support, and professional expertise, Heather Glen is committed to strengthening the community we call home.

Giving Together for a Dementia-Friendly Lehigh Valley

One of the cornerstones of our community involvement is our annual Together We Give initiative, a fundraiser supporting Dementia-Friendly Lehigh Valley (DFLV). Each year, Heather Glen matches community donations to help raise awareness and provide vital resources for individuals and families impacted by dementia. In our most recent campaign, we proudly contributed $2,000 to DFLV, an investment in education, advocacy, and compassionate care across the region.

This partnership reflects our deep commitment to creating environments, both within Heather Glen and throughout the Lehigh Valley, where individuals living with dementia are understood, supported, and empowered to thrive.

Supporting Those Who Serve Our Community

Community care also means honoring those who care for us every day. Each year, Heather Glen Senior Living hosts a First Responders Grab-N-Go Lunch, preparing fresh meals for local police officers, firefighters, and EMS teams. These convenient meals allow first responders to refuel while continuing their essential work, serving as a small but heartfelt expression of gratitude for their dedication and sacrifice.

Fighting Food Insecurity, One Plate at a Time

Heather Glen is also proud to support neighbors facing food insecurity through initiatives like Project Pasta, a food drive benefiting the Parkland CARES Food Pantry. With contributions from residents, families, staff, and community partners, we collected pasta and shelf-stable items to help ensure local families have access to nutritious meals. It’s a reminder that even simple acts, like donating a box of pasta, can have a meaningful impact when done together.

Celebrating Active and Connected Aging

Promoting joy, movement, and social connection for older adults is at the heart of our philosophy. Heather Glen Senior Living was honored to serve as Premier Sponsor of the Lehigh Valley Aging in Place “Dancing Through the Decades” Senior Dance, welcoming more than 300 seniors for an afternoon of music, dancing, and connection, completely free of charge. Events like these reinforce our belief that aging should be vibrant, social, and celebrated.

Our support of active aging continues through sponsorships such as the Allentown Mayor’s 19th Annual Charity Golf Classic, benefiting Lehigh Valley Active Life, and the Golden Years Golf Invitational, which supports programs helping seniors age with dignity and independence. Whether on the dance floor or the golf course, we are proud to champion initiatives that enrich the lives of older adults across the region.

Investing in Education and Professional Expertise

Heather Glen Senior Living believes education is a powerful tool for strengthening families and caregivers. As a sponsor of the 2025 Lehigh Valley Aging in Place Symposium, we supported a full day of education for caregivers, healthcare professionals, and senior living experts focused on healthy aging and dementia care. Sharing knowledge and best practices helps ensure that seniors throughout the Lehigh Valley receive informed, compassionate support wherever they call home.

Our commitment also extends through leadership and advocacy. Heather Glen’s Marketing Director, Kim Garrison, serves on both the DFLV Steering Committee and the Community Conversation Planning Committee, contributing professional expertise to help build a more dementia-smart and inclusive community.

Walking Together Toward a Cure

Few causes resonate more deeply with our community than the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. Heather Glen proudly participates in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Lehigh Valley, where our Heather Glen Heroes Team achieved Grand Champion status by exceeding our fundraising goal, raising $3,310, or 110% of our target. Every step taken and every dollar raised brings us closer to a world without Alzheimer’s, and we are honored to stand alongside families, advocates, and researchers in this mission.

A Commitment That Continues

From supporting local parks and recreation as a Visionary Sponsor in Upper Macungie Township to sponsoring community conversations that shape the future of dementia care, Heather Glen Senior Living remains committed to making a lasting difference. We believe strong communities are built through collaboration, compassion, and consistent action. We are proud to play our part!

At Heather Glen, community involvement isn’t a side initiative; it’s part of who we are. Together with our residents, families, team members, and partners, we will continue to give, serve, and grow alongside the Lehigh Valley.
